West Florence Fire-Rescue

At 4:09am the West Florence Fire Department responded to a reported house fire on Whitehall Circle. Crews were able to quickly extinguish the fire and damage was minimal. The origin of the fire was an electrical short. The fire was confined to electrical wiring and insulation. No one was injured and working smoke alarms in the home alerted the family to evacuate.

Thanks to the capital penny 2 sales tax a fire hydrant was in the owners’ yard which enabled crews to quickly establish a water source. West Florence responded with 3 engines, 1 rescue, 1 tanker, and 1 ladder and 17 personnel. Florence County EMS was also on scene.

WFFD reminds you to check your smoke alarms regularly and have an evacuation plan for your family in the event of an emergency. If you reside in the West Florence Fire Department coverage area and your home needs smoke alarms, contact WFFD at 843-665-8857 to schedule a free installation.
