Volunteer With US!
West Florence Fire-Rescue is always looking for volunteers. West Florence Fire-Rescue responds to a variety of calls including first responder calls, vehicle collisions fires, and other emergencies.
You may be wondering what first responder calls entail?
They entail assisting Florence County Emergency Medical Services on cardiac, chest pain, hemorrhage, falls, and other types of medical calls. We don’t transport the patients but we provide emergency medical care to the patient before the ambulance arrives to the call.
What does it take to be a firefighter?
The basic firefighting certification class is 90 hours long. However, training doesn’t stop there. There are classes dealing with automobile extrication, hazardous materials, and much much more!
Why should I become a volunteer firefighter?
- Help out your community!
- $3,000 tax credit off South Carolina State taxes. (Must meet state response requirements)
- Free training! WFFR will pay for your fire academy classes.
- Fire gear is provided!
- Fuel Reimbursement program.
We welcome applicants that just want to run medical calls or drive apparatus!
